Abstract: the economic and social significance of injuries in the workplace is determined by the damage caused to the person, society and the country. Injuries along with occupational diseases are one of the main causes of disability in all sectors of the economy. The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimates that around 2 million workers worldwide die each year as a result of occupational injuries and diseases. In the Russian Federation, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the level of injuries has been steadily declining in recent years.
The article discusses the main causes of injuries in the workplace and methods for its prevention. The cases of injuries at work in the Orel region for 2016, 2017 and 2018, as well as in 2019 are analyzed. Group and individual traumatism, severe cases and fatal outcome are considered. The monographic and statistical methods of injuries, their advantages and disadvantages are briefly analyzed.
