Abstract: the article is devoted to the study of problem of skills mismatch existing in all countries, all economies and fields of activity. This problem – the problem of the growing labor market mismatch between employers’ needs for skilled workers, and the proposal, which provides the system of vocational education. The complexity of its solution is due to the onset of technological revolution, called Industry 4.0, where there is a qualitative reassessment of many values that guide humanity as a whole and each of us.
The article presents the results of study showing the structural changes on the labor market and the emergence of demand for new professions and specialties. The idea is formed that future employees should have multidisciplinary competencies. These competencies are listed. The article substantiates the need to improve vocational education, which is intended to ensure the development of the competencies required by employees and help to reduce the imbalance between the competence’s demand and their supply by the vocational training system.
