Abstract: this article examines the problem of human resource management during the crisis. The main factors in building a successful company policy, according to the author of the article, are the presence of a high-quality anti-crisis policy in the field of personnel management, a clear corporate culture, the presence of a leader, the creation of favorable psychological environment in the team, the presence of psychological support and the developed personnel policy. The main part of the article presents the results of the study analyzing the state of human resources management in Russia in the context of remote work, which compares the experience of Russian and foreign companies. The study, conducted in late March – early April 2020 during the period of self-isolation in connection with the new type of coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), was based on the results of a survey among 54 representatives of Russian and foreign organizations. The purpose of the research is to identify differences between the activities of Russian and international companies and to search for optimal strategies for personnel management during the crisis. The author concludes that Russian companies, in contrast to foreign ones, have such features as weaker corporate culture and personnel policy, less developed leadership, preference for an authoritarian management style, stronger control and a significant distance between the manager and subordinates, which negatively affects the psychological climate in the organization. Despite this, it should be noted that in Russia there is a special type of personnel management that combines the best elements of foreign practices with traditional approaches of Russian management, which makes it possible to create a successful mechanism for overcoming crisis situations.
