THE PROBLEM OF SOCIAL SECURITY IN RUSSIAN SOCIETY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

Abstract: this article examines the importance of social protection for society, as well as its necessity in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. Social protection measures taken by the government to reduce the spread of the pandemic in the Russian Federation are listed. Social security during the coronavirus pandemic, although it was a necessary measure, still had a painful effect on people who were not financially prepared for the crisis. Vulnerable social groups were most affected by the self-isolation regime, as the population’s income plummeted due to partial compensation for work, and many citizens lost their permanent jobs altogether. The analysis of the problem of social security has sharpened the issues related to social inequality and social injustice: statistics are provided that make it possible to understand which factors of social injustice and social inequality are the most painful for society. The article analyzes the reasons for citizens’ violation of the self-isolation regime in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, and also highlights the socio-psychological determinants that caused the violation of the self-isolation regime. The experience of an extreme situation related to the spread of COVID-19 is new for humanity, so it is very important to create all the necessary conditions for social protection of citizens.
