Abstract: regional transport and logistics system development is one of the most important factors of economic growth providing for the rationalization of productive forces, growth of competitiveness and quality of life of the population and contributing to the regional economy diversification. In the article the main economic development indicators of Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous okrug – Ugra and its place among other subjects of the Russian Federation are provided. It is noted that commodity-dependent economics of Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous okrug – Ugra results in significant disparities in the development of regional transport and logistics system, impeding regional economic development. The current state of transport system of Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous okrug – Ugra is analyzed. Major issues and trends of regional transport and logistics system development are considered, which are supposed to be addressed in a systematic way, on the base of a regional strategy. The influence of implementation of the Socio-economic development strategy of Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous okrug – Ugra on the regional economics development is revealed. Priorities on the improvement of transport system of the autonomous okrug are pointed out.
