Abstract: the article considers the indicators of energy security. The assessment of the two most important of them: the production, transmission and distribution of electricity, and the ratio of electricity generation to its consumption. The analysis of the structure of electricity consumption. The role of the electric power enterprise in ensuring the economic security of the region is estimated. To identify the importance of electric power enterprises in the economic security of the region (hereinafter ESR), it is necessary to develop tools. In V. K. Senchagov’s research 10 areas of activity that determine the level of ESR are presented. The activities of electric power enterprises directly or indirectly affect all components of the ESR presented above. First, the role of electric power enterprises in the region can be assessed by an integral indicator-the share in GRP, which directly affects macroeconomic development, fiscal security. Secondly, their role can be assessed as a component of the ESR-energy security. Further, the indicator of energy security is the ratio of electricity generation to its consumption. The analysis of this indicator for the last 5 years in the whole regions of Russia averages 1:1.
