Abstract: the article justifies the essence of the category of economic security and its competitive advantages in the world markets. The leading role of economic security in the national security system of the country is noted. The sustainability of economic security indicators, according to the authors, largely depends on the state of the country ‘s overall national security. It is stressed that low labor productivity and low competitiveness of the Russian economy are related to technical and technological problems, low motivation of employees, reluctance to achieve maximum return, high tax burden and lack of innovative activity. The authors believe that the timely implementation of the economic security strategy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 will ensure the sustainable development of the Russian economy even under sanctions.
