Abstract: the authors examined key theoretical and practical aspects of the development and implementation of digital export and electronic commerce in the economic life of Russian enterprises.
When enterprises starting a foreign economic activity or deciding to increase its share due to the expansion of the supply geography, most of them are faced with the problem of lack of experience in interacting with foreign counterparties and the requirements of new markets as a whole, which subsequently leads to additional costs for export activities or to the absence of its effectiveness at all. In such a context and in order to study the demand for technological goods (work / services), bypassing traditional desk or field marketing research, competition and the minimum requirements for adapting products to the conditions of a new market, e-commerce is beginning to act as a modern key tool that allows a potential or existing exporter getting the necessary information about the demand, supply and price parameters of their products in the international market.
In view of the indicated factors, the number of enterprises selling through international electronic platforms is increasing annually. When studying the factors contributing to a similar trend in many countries of the world, the authors note the relationship not only with the convenience of modern online services, cost reduction for user enterprises, but also the rapid development of e-commerce through government support for the e-commerce industry.
Based on the analysis of existing forms of state support, as well as a statistical review of international and domestic conditions, the authors identify the main problems and determinants that determine the low level of digitalization of trade and export activity in the Russian Federation in particular, and the low level of technological development in general, compared with foreign indicators states. In addition, the authors formulated recommendations for improving the system and developing digital export competencies.
