Abstract: the article consider issues related to the development of the innovative potential of agriculture of the Russian Federation, the application of the achievements of science in the reclamation complex. As the purpose of the research was to explore the conditions and factors for the development of the agro-industrial complex the empirical base of the study was the scientific and methodological publications and research results of the FSBSU ARRIIA in the field of irrigated agriculture, production of environmentally friendly products on reclaimed lands in the South of Russia. The presented data make possible to assess the condition of the reclamation complex of one of the constituent entities of the Federation, to justify proposals for expanding the share of irrigated land until 2030. The article provides calculations to substantiate an optimistic forecast for the production of the main types of agricultural products on reclaimed land, taking into account irrigation norms. Scientific points of view on the need for land reclamation measures to increase irrigated and drained lands by 2030 are presented. It is shown that the introduction of reclaimed land into circulation will increase the profitability of agricultural enterprises, increase production, including organic production, and ensure export supplies. Problems are studied, an assessment is given, measures are proposed for the development of irrigated agriculture in the Volgograd region. Mathematical calculations are given that make it possible to assess the condition of soils and land, to ensure the adoption of managerial decisions to increase the innovative potential of agricultural production. The decisions in the field of creating resource-saving irrigation systems, balanced farming systems are justified. It is shown that the application of world experience and the achievements of Russian agricultural science on a convergent platform is a fundamental vector in increasing the innovative potential of the agricultural sector of the South of Russia.
