Abstract: the article analyzes modern approaches to the existing problems of nature management in the regions of Russia. It is determined that monitoring studies of the state of the environment are relevant and consist in ensuring the effective implementation of the assessment of the level of environmental management to predict changes and develop recommendations in individual regions. The research methodology is based on analytical, comparative and systematic approaches, according to which the statistical data of nature management are the basis for the introduction of innovations for the effective development of the regional nature management system. The level of the ecological situation and development of the national ecological system is analyzed using the Environmental Performance Index (EPI). The analysis of the index of the physical volume of environmental expenditures, as an important component of the analysis of resource and economic factors in the implementation of state regulatory policy in the field of use and protection of natural resources. Organizational and economic approaches to the analysis and assessment of the use of natural resource potential are considered, and the main directions for improving the rational use of natural resources are determined.
