Abstract: the organization of additional professional education of civil servants is considered. The system of additional professional education should be constantly optimized by updating educational programs, applying new educational technologies, increasing motivation and achieving new competencies and knowledge for students. Logic of the article: in the first part of the article, the author states the existing shortcomings in the system of additional education, in the second part of the article, the author offers a “road map” for the modernization of additional education to improve the skills of civil service personnel. In the last part of the article, the author draws conclusions on the proposed system of modernization of additional professional education of civil servants: it is necessary to improve legislation, update the existing system, develop specialized educational programs, create new educational methods, more widely introduce a system of mentoring, create conditions for self-education of civil servants, and more widely apply distance education programs.
