Abstract: the article reveals the content of the concept of “physical education space” in the context of higher education, in the context of the introduction of personality-oriented technologies. An attempt was made to justify the physical education and educational space of higher education, as a self-sufficient type of educational space. The authors attribute the effective management of the development of the sports and educational space of the university to the fulfillment of the integrative-organizational function, the transformative-creative function, the design-creative function, the value-orientation function, the projective-prognostic function, and the communicative-regulatory function.
The necessity of applying modern management techniques in the process of managing the development of the physical education and training space of a university is shown. The authors emphasize the need to introduce a rational and regulated system for managing this space through project management. We consider the socio-pedagogical, social, practical and methodological levels, actualizing the need to justify physical education and educational space. Detailed reviews of sociological literature on the issue of improving the management of the development of the educational space of higher education are given. The data of the All-Russian sociological study aimed at identifying the degree of their involvement in classes in the discipline “physical education” are being updated. The low level of motivation of students to engage in physical education and sports is considered as the main barrier to effective development management of the university’s sports and educational space.
