Abstract: the article discusses the role of human capital in ensuring sustainable development. The development of agriculture in the republic is characterized by the growth of basic gross indicators. But its effectiveness is significantly inferior to most European countries. One of the reasons for this is the insufficient level of human capital used in the country’s agriculture. It is concluded that the human capital of workers employed in agriculture of the republic is lower than in the whole economy of the country. Expenditures on education are steadily growing in the republic. However, the proportion of expenditure on education to the country’s GDP does not reach the level of the requirements of sustainable development of the economy. The main share of public funds is invested in pre-school and general secondary education, which corresponds to the implementation of the principle of accessibility and free education in the country. In the conditions of transition to the concept of continuing education throughout the work, it is necessary to invest additional funds in the development of the human potential of agricultural workers by improving the system of additional education. The increasing role of man for ensuring sustainable development requires the development and implementation of a special system of measures aimed at increasing investment in human capital, which covers the formation, development and implementation of human capital labor resources employed in the country’s agriculture.
