DIGITAL ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT: INDUSTRIAL SECTOR AND INDUSTRY 4.0

Abstract: the article is devoted to the digital economy development in the context of introducing the concept Industry 4.0 into the production sector. Nowadays, when the world economic system development takes place under rather difficult conditions associated with the consequences of the global financial and economic crisis and the ensuing lengthy recession, investments in the digital economy allow companies to optimize and reduce the business cost, increase productivity, accelerate innovative products creation, provide a quick entry into the global market. The author of the article notes a number of problems associated with the statistical evaluation of digital economy growth rate in the world developed countries. The author of the article argues that the standard methods of calculating the share of GDP for the digital economy do not have sufficient relevance,as with their help it is impossible to establish the cost of free digital content in the applications format of various kinds in the set of digital sector goods and services. In this regard, the author proposes to apply the methods used in the Industry 4.0 model for growth rate analysis of the digital economy in GDP share. The author of the article uses general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction), the author also analyzes statistical data of leading statistical services, uses a systematic approach and applies content analysis method in studying scientific research on the subject matter. The author of the article concludes that a number of problems related to the assessment of digital economy growth can be overcome by the example of the assessment of the development of Industry 4.0.
