Abstract: employment diversification is an important competitive advantage of the country and regions in the modern economy at different levels in the context of globalization of the economy. The management of problems related to the formation of an effective labour market through the development of forms of non-standard employment for sustainable development in both the country and the region is a serious task of public policy. The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the regional labour market through the lens of the structure of employment in the region, remuneration, as well as the justification for the need to apply and promote the development of forms of non-standard employment as a key condition for the development of the economy. During the study of the sphere of employment of the Republic of Mordovia, both theoretical methods (analysis and synthesis of special and methodological literature on the topic of research, comparative method, analogy method) and statistical method using groupings were applied. As new socio-economic realities called to life by market reform actions, the labour market focuses on the most critical and weak problems of society. The strict requirements of competition in the labour market call for a continuous increase in skills and experience. The study carried out an analysis of the state of the labour market in the Republic of Mordovia. It was concluded that it is ineffective. The possibility of using certain forms of employment to increase its flexibility was identified.
