SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF CITY-FORMING ENTERPRISES AS A FACTOR IN THE MODERNIZATION OF SINGLE-INDUSTRY TOWNS OF RUSSIA

Abstract: this article is devoted to the problem of socially responsible behavior of city-forming enterprises located within the boundaries of a single-industry town. Scientists have long established that corporate social responsibility (CSR) of this type of enterprise is an essential tool for ensuring competitiveness and effective development of a single-industry town.

Taking into account the relatively large number of single-industry towns in modern Russia, the issue under consideration is quite relevant. Therefore, the problem of conducting socially responsible business by city-forming enterprises causes numerous discussions in the scientific community, because the activities of such enterprises have a direct impact on the comfort of living in a single-industry town.

In this case, comfortable living means the optimal ratio of the psychological, physical, social and emotional state of the population, its worthy level and its compliance with expectations and standards.

In single-industry cities, there is a close relationship between the city, enterprise, state (local authorities). Accordingly, we can talk about the presence of a certain “triangle”, the competitiveness of a monofunctional city depends on the level of its state (established communication between all elements).

The purpose of writing this study is to establish the dependence of the socio-economic status of a single-industry municipality on a city-forming enterprise. The social responsibility of city-forming enterprises is revealed using concrete examples. Also the features of the responsibility of city-forming enterprises to different categories of stakeholders are clarified. Stakeholders mean interested parties, the responsibility of which lies with the city-forming enterprise.

All stakeholders were divided by us into primary and secondary. As stakeholders, we considered suppliers of the city-forming enterprise, its employees, the municipality in whose territory it operates, local communities and public organizations.
